Solo Section

Each performer will play one or two selections of contrasting styles. Concerto movements and compositions written to be played with orchestra may not be played as solos. Compositions played in the Solo section need not be memorized for adjudication.

Concerto Section

Each performer must also enter the Solo Section with appropriate solo repertoire to qualify for the Concerto Section. Performers will be expected to play from memory, one or two movements of a standard concerto repertoire work.

Ensemble Section

Each group of performers will play one selection, or one full movement, or a combination of movements, from a standard repertoire work within the time limit for the class. Performers are permitted to use sheet music, and must provide their own music stands. A pianist, other than an accompanist for a duet, must be a student and will be considered as part of the ensemble. Each student must enter the ensemble class appropriate for the age of the oldest entrant.

Any class consisting of three or fewer entrants will be combined with another class.
